Bilanci e tabelle. Diciassettesima settimana.

Incredibile. L'ultima settimana. L'ultimo allenamento.

Bilanci

42 chilometri e 195 metri.

Ciao a tucc'!

Ha corso New York tempo fa e poi famiglia babies work e ora eccolo ancora pronto!

Ecco chi aveva davanti.

Fede arriva 7 minuti dopo. Esattamente come aveva programmato, 4'28'' al km. Una macchina da guerra, c'avrei scommesso.

Giovanni v. Fabio
Giovanni scatta senza parlare.

Tattica? No.

Martina è pimpante e carica. Aspettiamo Stefano e Demetrio.

Distrutto.

Giusy v. Martina
"Ce la puoi fare Martina! Puoi recuperare Giusy!!!".

Credo a quelle parole? No, ma magari aiutano.

Urlo. Mi vede. Sorride. Allunga il passo. Mi emoziono neanche avessi visto il Principe Milito.

E' Martina. "VAAAAAIIIII MARTINAAAAAAA!!!!!".

Subito dopo arrivano Giovanni e Fabio. "ERA MARTINA!!! E' PASSATA MARTINA!!!". Giovanni esulta.

E me l'ero persa.

Squadra A: 3 ore 30 minuti 05 secondi.
Squadra B: 3 ore 30 minuti 39 secondi.

EPILOGO

Zia Carmela: 3 ore 45 minuti e 00 secondi.
Davide: 4 ore 12 minuti e 00 secondi.
Walter: 3 ore 56 minuti 12 secondi.
Ilaria: 3 ore 30 minuti e 00 secondi.
Alessandro: 3 ore 24 minuti e 25 secondi.
Bobo: 3 ore 48 minuti e 32 secondi.
Federico: 3 ore 50 minuti e 23 secondi.
Morea: 4 ore 00 minuti e 00 secondi.
Nicola: 3 ore 00 minuti e 23 secondi.
Michele: 3 ore 12 minuti e 00 secondi.

A presto!!

p.s.

E' apparso sul New York Times.

Mica Gazzi.

Torno a Milano.

Gonfieranno i palloncini.

p.s.
Hall of Fame aggiornata. Grazie.

P.P.S.

Chi c'è a Milano?

10.203 persone correranno a Milano, domenica 10 aprile 2011.

Noi ci saremo a correre. Voi ci sarete a sostenerci?

http://www.justgiving.com/Rexel-UK-Green-Team

Studio illegale è nato dall'omonimo blog. Che potete trovare qui.
Ne ho riletto alcune pagine. Mi commuovo come la prima prima volta.

Il libro ha venduto 35mila copie in Italia. A settembre iniziano le riprese del film. Andrea Campi, alter ego dell'autore, sarà interpretato da Fabio Volo. Però Federico ha un maglione più bello.

Ecco una brevissima rassegna stampa del libro. Il resto lo potete trovare qui:

Buona lettura, e occhio al tempo!

Little Lion Man.

I wrote it. And that was amusing.

Then I saw it as it was going to be published. And that was amazing. The drawing, most of all.

I received a copy of the magazine this morning (Wednesday). THAT was amazing.

This is not me. I wonder why everybody keeps asking.

I have much more hair. On the body.

That's me!!

Bottom right. Black and white picture. It was taken when I was at university.

It's still the only picture where I don't make faces. It was taken for a newspaper, that's the only reason.

And this is the article!!

The heading might be translated:
"Milan-London Route"
or
"From Milan to London"

Who cares? This blog is on Runner's World. The bible of runners.

So excited.

I had to celebrate. I had to run.

The person who did the chart that I'm following is a genius. It's an Italian trainer, Fulvio Massini. You can easily find this chart on the internet. But it's in Italian.

Every Wednesday interval training (AKA fartlek) is due. Today it was the last one.

It was the best. Planned to cheer you up before the race. Three fast runs of decreasing length. First one 3 km, second one 2 km, third one 1 km.

You might be tired at the end of the 3 km. But the last 1 km is just fun.

I needed to celebrate the article. I needed to tribute to such brilliant interval training. I needed to thank the shining sun.

Suit Up Valerio!

Hot split shorts and tiny little singlet.

Actually, the shorts look like a diaper. But they're so comfortable. More than a diaper, I guess.

They're perfect for short races, like 10 km. Not suitable for longer runs. There's not enough vaseline in the world for me to run a marathon dressed like that.

The singlet comes from a popular 10 km race in Italy. It's called Deejay Ten (the race), sponsored by a famous Italian network (Radio Deejay).

This network sponsors also the Milano City Marathon.
I owed to wear such singlet to them.

I'm partly running the Milano City Marathon next Sunday, with some friends (their pictures and descriptions can be found on "chi siete?". Descriptions are in Italian. Pictures in English).

So, dressed like a baby DJ, I went out.

2 km of warm up. Pace of 4'27'' per km. Maybe I was already warmed up.

First 3 km.

Sun. Fresh air on my baby hairy skin. I was flying. 3'46'' per km. A total of 11'18''.

Recovery had to be within 4'20''. But I rested for a while and I did it in 4'22''.

2 km.

Sun was setting. Fresh air becoming fresher. 3'41'' per km. A total of 7'22''.

Panting but lucid. And full of energy. When the second recovery finished, watch said 4'08''.

1 km.

It ended. Suddenly. 3'36''.

I run 10 km in less than 40 minutes. As a training.
I barely finished the Deejay Ten in 41 minutes, last October. As a race.

There's a question which always comes to my mind in this period of time.

Am I ready?

It's early to say. Let's check next 17 April.

p.s.
Hall of Fame updated. Thanks.

Cambio di passo.

Sono entrato nella fase depressiva. E' ufficiale.

Così ieri mattina dovevo svegliarmi presto e correre 12 km lenti.

Niente contachilometri, niente cardiofrequenzimetro. Non segna neanche i giri.

E se mi alzo, mi preparo in cinque minuti e anziché correre 12 km corro 55 minuti?

55 minuti. Da quanto tempo non correvo 55 minuti? Non km, minuti. Nessun controllo, nessuna regola. Corro perché voglio farlo. Corro perché sono libero di farlo.

In cinque minuti ero vestito.

Domenica ecologica i miei quaglioni!

(Guccini docet).

Ecologia? Socialità? Solidarietà? Benessere? Impegno? Allegria? Fratellanza?

No, SUV.

A Milano ci saranno macchine in coda a insultare i podisti.

Bilanci
La settimana appena trascorsa è andata molto bene. Come allenamento. 69 km in totale, ultimo fartlek tosto corso mercoledì, ultimo allenamento sopra i 20 km corso la domenica.

Come dieta, c'ho provato.

Sta arrivando Milano. Quella di Milano-Londra, per intenderci. Quella della staffetta. Quella delle due squadre. Saremo pronti a correrla?

Running with Sarah. And with Stef.

To find names for posts is usually a hard activity. This time I can take it easy.

After "Running with Sarah. Part I." and "Running with Sarah. Part II.", the third episode of the saga is right before your eyes.

Enjoy!
Vale: let's have a picture for the blog
Stef: we're late
Vale: come on
(in the picture: Stef, Vale and Sarah before leaving. Late)

I was very proud of myself. During last week I have just drunk a beer, and ate properly. Then I was invited for a Sunday Roast.

Stef, the leader of our fundraising team, suggested that we could have a run together and then eat something at his girlfriend's place.

"Why don't you invite Sarah as well?"

I asked her. And she took it seriously.

I easily brought a bottle of wine. She cooked two  Cottage Pies, Banana Bread, Coconuts Scones and Aztec Biscuits.

The wine was ok. But her food...

So we left early in the morning, got to Hatfield, where Stef lives, and run for a while.

Sarah run 10 km at 5'20'' per km. Astonishing if you think that she had run 4 km two weeks before, and that's it.

Stef and I left Sarah at the 8th km and run for other 15 km at a pace of 4'23'' per km. Astonishing if you think that I had thai food just the evening before.

After the shower I realised that the real challenge hadn't come yet.

Stef hadn't invited us for "eating something". It was a Sunday Roast. Sarah understood what was to come and opened her eyes widely and enthusiastically.

I still didn't have a clue until I saw the roasted vegetables on the table and Tamsyn (Stef's girlfriend) cutting 2 kilos of roast beef.

Eight slices of roast beef (gravy sauce on top), three servings of roasted vegetables (mainly potatoes), two servings of Cottage Pie, mustard. Two glasses of the wine I brought and one of Prosecco.

I felt quite full when the desserts arrived. Tamsyn cooked a Rhubarb Pudding. Two full slices please.

And there were Sarah's sweets, of course.

Half of the Aztec Biscuits. I don't want to get fat. One serving of Banana Bread. Then nobody wanted the Coconuts Scones and I had to lay down for the others. I waited ten minutes between the first Scone and the second one. My belly needed some rest. Both of them came with butter and jam of Tamsyn's mother.

I might not be invited anymore by Stef and Tamsyn after I emptied their fridge. Maybe they'll just ask Sarah to come.

But what could I do? I love British traditions!!

The Brighter Borough of Wandsworth.

That's where I live in London. It's amazing, isn't it?

Finding this place was a gift. And I must reward such gift, by talking properly about this borough of London (which is brighter than the others, if it wasn't clear enough).

Westminster and Chelsea share Hyde Park. We have Battersea Park all for us.

Cherry blossoms.

Nice area for running, isn't it?

What about this?

Where's your Pagoda, Westminster?

Where's your golden Buddha, stinky Chelsea?

The view of the Buddha isn't the best, actually.
(in the picture: the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. So damned posh)

We have also squirrels.

You can see my building on the left of the fighting squirrels.

Everything at hand.
Other boroughs have plumbers. We are brighter than them.
We have Ice Sculpures Specialists!!

We are not just brighter people.
We are also more weloming.

Welome to Wandsworth!!!

A Bittersweet Run.

A little bitter. A little sweet. A lot of run.

Yesterday (Tuesday), I had a pleasant run from home to work. 9 km at an average of 4'35'' per km. 4 km of whom where run in Hyde Park. A pleasant journey in a sunny morning.

This evening (Thursday) it was so deep dark in Battersea. Lovely.

I was supposed to run in the morning. But I went to bed late last evening. Too excited to sleep after I saw an article I wrote for a magazine. It's an Italian magazine about runners, of course. I don't know if you've ever heard about it. It's called Runner's World.

The article is about a) how it happened that I decided to run the London Marathon; b) how I found the charity to support (which gave me the bid for London), and c) how I planned to fundraise 1,000 pounds.

It's quite simple actually:  a) I wanted to impress an English man, so I told him that I was going to run the London Marathon; b) I found a team that accepted and trusted me (it wasn't easy); c) I opened this blog.

If you're looking for the long version you need to speak Italian and buy a copy of Runner's World (Italy). Or I can borrow you mine as soon as it gets to London. Or when I'm in Italy, if you're not planning to come to London.

But it wasn't the article that made me so excited. I mean, I had written it. And I knew it was going to be published this month.

It was the drawing they made. It shows a professional who runs from Milan to London.

I haven't had so much hair since highschool.

Bittersweet Interval Training.

I went running this evening. Interval training. Perhaps the hardest I had in four months (jeez, how long have I been training?!).

2 km of warm up and two fast runs of 5 km each. 1 km of recovery.

The fast runs needed to be fast. Very fast, under 4' per km. Despite the fact that I had just run 53 km in the previous three days.

The first 5 km were run at a pace of 3'59'' per km. So wet at the end. So tired.

The recovery wasn't that fast. I had to run at least at 4'20'' per km. I couldn't. My legs were so heavy and the breath so... breathless.

When the recovery ended (at 4'30'') I just wanted to stop there.

Then I thought about the Bribery Act 2010.  The British government published the Guidance to the Bribery Act 2010 today. And the associates of the department I'm working in went to celebrate this event in a pub. I couldn't go with them, cause I had this interval training.

I cannot miss such an event pointlessly. At least I must do what I have to.

First km: 3'55''.

Second km: 4'02''.

Third km: 4'01''.

I give up. I'm running over what it's planned. I must give up. I haven't slept tonight. I ate two cupcakes at lunch (it was for a good reason). I'm hungry. I'm cold. It's dark. Plenty of good excuses to stop there.

Than I thought about Ben. It's his birthday today. And the associates of the departmet I'm working in, Ben included, went to celebrate the publishment of the Guidance to the Bribery Act 2010 in a pub. And Ben's birthday, of course.

Fourth km: 4'00''.

Fifth km: 3'57''.

Second fast run at 3'59'' per km. 66 km in four days.

Cheers to the Guidance to the Bribery Act 2010!!

Bilanci e tabelle. Quindicesima settimana.

This is the fifteenth chart I'm posting. The first in English.

For those who don't know it yet, every sunday or monday I post a chart with the training sessions of the upcoming week.

So everyone knows and participates to the training. And I must comply with the chart.

I usually start by summarizing what happened during the previous week. Let's start.

Balances
The week run very quickly. Five sessions, 73 km. The last distance run was as fast as planned, which is great. I also experienced the crowd there will be at the marathon. Which is not that great.

Two weeks before Milan, three before London.

The only false note were food and drink. Too much, too bad, too alcohol.

I shall behave more properly, this week.

The fundraising is working fine. The Hall of Fame of donors was updated a couple of times this week. I hope it will be more often updated until the end.
(if you want to donate, please visit http://www.justgiving.com/Rexel-UK-Green-Team)

Chart
click to watch it clear

Next week is the last one with five training sessions.
The Sunday run is only 21 km. I'm lowering the km down before the big event.
Wednesday is going to be pretty hard, though.
We'll see.

Monday Run
Every monday comes with a run. Today it was 12 km long.

Like last week I brought all my stuff to work and changed there in the evening. Which means that tomorrow I'm going to work by feet...

The pace was quite fast. First 10 km were at 4'23'' per km, last 2 km at 4'04'' per km.

It was more pleasant than last Monday. Thanks to DST there was still daylight, although I left the office at 7.45 P.M..

Since there was no traffic (not as much as usual, at least), I went through the Inns of Court, which are close to the office. Amazing.

For a civil lawyer the Inns of Court are legendary. Running through them gave me the same feeling that I had when I was staring the relief of Napoleon in Paris, inside the Pantheon. His image was holding a Code Civil, as one of his most important legacies.

Living the history of law. This time at 4'23'' per km. Legen...dary!!

How to break an oath. Day by day.

Where were we?

Right: "I made a promise to myself when I arrived home: no more junk food. No more beer."

I made that oath a week ago, while I was writing "Running with Sarah. Part II." It was Monday evening.

I behaved accordingly. Until Wednesday evening.

Wednesday
I had planned to run an interval training on Wednesday. But that was the only day that Stefano and I could go out for dinner. I couldn't train in the morning, I hadn't recovered by the Violenza of the previous days yet.

Stefano is the captain of our fundraising team. He is a monster as a marathon man and as a fundraiser. You think I'm brave by training at 5.30 A.M.? (maybe, not you. Someone else does). Stefano trains at 4 A.M.. You think I can raise 1k pounds for a charity? (thanks for helping). Stefano raised 3k pounds.

We had a pizza (Italians...). I asked for water. Water with pizza. This is blasphemy.

Then Stefano, his girlfriend and I went to this nice Cuban bar. I asked for a mojito. Technically, mojito isn't beer.

Thursday
The interval training went well.

Wake up at 6 A.M.. Out at 6.20. 1k of warm up, than three repetitions of 2 km with 1 km recovery. The first repetition was completed in 7'57''. The second one in 7'50''. The third one in 7'48''. The recovery was always completed under 4'20''.

Progressive fartlek. Despite the mojito. I told you that mojito isn't beer.

A party with colleagues landed over my oath in the evening.

You cannot drink water at a party. Who does that? I started with wine. Wine is not beer.

Last thing that I remember of that evening is an empty bottle of Becks on the bar. It was my second one. After three Corona.

Friday
Someone could say that Corona is not a beer. But Becks? It's German, it's a beer.

Best case scenario, I had broken my oath twice. But you need to be a lawyer to get this result. And I'm not qualified (hopefully, yet).

In any case, the oath is broken, I'm damned.

Let's think about this later.

Friday morning I had the fourth training of the week. 12 km with a progression. I went early at the office, changed there, and got out quickly. Direction: Hyde Park. Never been there before.

3 km to get there. 6 km run in the Park. 3 km to get back.

Timing: first 4 km at an average of 4'23'' per km, second 4 km at an average of 4'18'' per km, third 4 km at an average of 4'08 per km.

Screw the oath. Who's damned now?

I got an extra beer with the colleagues in the evening. Peroni. That's not really a beer. But who cares, even if it were.

Saturday
No training. Yes junk food. Yes beer.

Fish and chips for lunch.
(in the picture: the alleged best fish and chips of Wandsworth)

The evening was quieter. I went to the ballet with some friends, to see the Swan Lake.

We needed something tough after all that girly stuff (seriously, it was gorgeous).

Hamburger and beer. Like real men.

While I was ordering, I recall a tiny voice saying "do not take beer, do not take meat".

Vegetarian burger. And a pint of beer.

Sunday
Here we come. Sunday. The last long distance run before the marathon. 32 km.

It must be fast.

I woke up at 11, thanks to the Daylight Saving Time. Helped by the vegburger and the beer of the night before, perhaps.

I usually have something for breakfast, before long runs. That means I cannot leave before a certain time. In this case, 12.30.

My body didn't feel very well, thanks to the Swan Lake. The vegburger and the beer got nothing to do with it.

Despite such tiny bother, the first 8 km ended fast, at an average 4'23'' per km. Next 22 km had to be under 4'20'' per km.

They started well. Then people came. I left at 12.30 leaving. I was in Westminster at 1 P.M.. Too many tourists in London, at that time. They should do something for late runners.

Arrived at Tower Bridge I was really annoyed by Italians with their cameras, their slow pace and their change of directions. Are there other tourists in London?

I decided to come back through the south bank. Forgetting about the existence of Tate Gallery and Millenium Eye. Went back on the north bank at Waterloo Bridge and kept going at the planned pace.

I was confident to finish on time, despite the 2 km slowered by the crowd. So confident that I decided to explore London a little bit. I hadn't seen Buckingham Palace yet. Now I will remember it forever. When I got there that tiny bother blow off. It happens when you run. It shouldn't when you're before a monument. My apologies.

Anyway, it was the 20th km at that time. I had 12 km to run. Let's see again Hyde Park.

I got lost.

After a while I had to come back home. But I didn't know the way. I asked a few cops. But they were still scared for the march of the day before. At least this is an explanation.

I lost 15 minutes looking for the right direction. Also because when I thought I got it, I didn't.

At that point everything was enlightened. Nostos and Hybris. As Odysseus I was coming home. But I was damned by the gods for my biggest sin: hybris, arrogance.

You can drink beer. You can eat junk food. Just don't go too far. Don't make fun of your oath. Especially when you have a marathon in three weeks. Homer said.

Finally, I got back to Battersea Park. Next to home.

The second distance, 22 km, had been run at an average of 4'19'' per km (stops with cops excluded).

Last 2 km were run in the park, at 4'04'' per km. Home was there. At the end.

I can have a real Sunday English Breakfast.

(in the picture: the best English Breakfast of Wandsworth.
The porridge couldn't enter into the picture)

Two eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes and bacon. Buttered bread. Jam.

This isn't junk food. The eggs are poached, not fried.

Am I right?

L'autografo illegale.

Era un'assolata giornata di marzo. Sole. Quanti ricordi.

Ci incontrammo a Milano, davanti all'ufficio. Lui si era svegliato da un'ora. Io da almeno sei. Era l'una e un quarto P.M..

"E' incredibile.

Violenza.

Which means violence in English.

Another post in English. I know, it's terrible. Still, I think I'm here to improve my English. It would be useless if I kept writing only in Italian.

Today we're talking about violence. On ourselves. And on pigeons.
What's the reason of the marathon? You run for 42 km and 195 m (26 miles), which is insane, and you have to pay for it. To train for months, maybe for years. You wake up at 5.40 a.m.. You run at 9 p.m.. It's insane.

Given such premises, let's talk about the last two training sessions.

I'm currently staying in London, working in an office with showers. It has more than just showers, actually. Though, they might be considered the facilities that I appreciate more.

I tried to run in the morning last week. The showers needed to be used. The idea was to go to the office very early, to change myself there, and to start there my run.

I realised that it didn't make sense. I could just save 10/15 minutes.

So, I had a brilliant idea: to bring running shoes and clothes on Monday morning; to run back home on Monday evening; to run back home on Tuesday morning. I could save the time of commuting, by this way.

Monday
I left the office at 7 p.m.. The area was crowded, with all the people who ran back home. Metaphorically.

They were in my way like moving pins. I loved it, dribbling them like Ronaldo. One! two! three... Ok, I'm bored.

I looked if there was an alley to jump into. I found it. And jumped. Everything was easier, when I reached the Thames. Home was just straight and then left.

I reached Battersea Park at the 8th km. Too early, but also too dark. Do I go back home safely, or run in the darkest tiny streets?

Other 4 km will be fine.

I got lost a few times in the park, and arrived home at the 13th km. An average of 4'17'' per km. Definitely too fast. And 1 km more than what it was planned. Tuesday will be a nightmare.

Tuesday
The alarm clock rang once. Twice. The third time it didn't ring, I stopped it a few seconds earlier. Half an hour later I stood up.

Let's suit up. Let's run.

I was much less confident than the evening before. Legs were heavy. Don't forget that I had just run with Sarah two days before.

After 2 km I realised that it wasn't the perfect training. An average of 4'42'' per km. And I was already tired.

Monday was the serious day, I thought. Tuesday is for relax. Let's behave like tourists: Westminster, the Big Ben. Trafalgar Square.

I was so amused that I also stopped a few seconds for taking a picture.

It shows the greatness of this Country.

Do not feed the pigeons. Horation Nelson approved this signal.

They're the worst animals ever. Milan is invaded by pigeons. Tourists keep feeding them, helped by unlicensed seed sellers. And we got Berlusconi.

Never feed the pigeons!

There isn't even the "please". It's "mind the gap, please". "Do not smoke in the airport, please". "Quiet, please".

And then, "do not feed the pigeons". Full stop.

While such deep thoughts were keeping my mind busy, the office popped out.

8 km. 1 km less than what planned. An average of 4'32'' per km.

Let's go to work, it's better. Please.

Running with Sarah. Part II.

Here's Part I.
http://milanolondra.blogspot.com/2011/03/running-with-sarah-part-i.html

I'm screwed. Sarah accepted. I'm gonna run this evening (Sunday evening).

It's an opportunity that life is offering you. Give up with junk food. Give up with beer. Give up with bad habits and start behaving in a good way. Don't forget you're supposed to run a marathon in four weeks.

The voice of my conscience was speaking. And I needed to listen. Four weeks?! WTF!!

So, I needed to focus on next training, later in the evening. 15 km, at least. Fuel was needed.

It's Sunday. Never forget what Moses said: "remember to hallow the feasts. By eating English breakfast". Two eggs, mushrooms, bacon, two slices of bread with butter. And a cup of porridge, of course. 12 p.m.. 6 hours before running for the second time in a day.

Last one was my second Sunday in London. Ever. The first one was spent by running for 36 km in the morning, and whining for the rest of the day.

I wanted to behave like a real Italian tourist this time. Hanging around in the area of Oxford Street and Piccadilly Circus. Staring at windows. Eating an ice cream. No, ice cream is bad. There's the run with Sarah at 6 p.m..

So I went to a pub and ordered a light lunch. Club sandwich with chicken and bacon. Fried hand cut potatoes on the side. Mayo on top.

"Anything to drink?"
"London Pride. A pint."

This is a real Italian, isn't it?

When I finished my meal it was 3.30 p.m.. I crawled out of the pub, feeling guilty for Sarah. What will she think when I'll puke in the park?

I'm usually very concerned about the food to eat before a race or a training. Not this time. Not this time.

When I opened the front door she was there, sitting in the sofa, surfing on the internet. I can greet her and go upstairs. Maybe she doesn't remember, I thought.

"Ready for running?"

That was my voice. I was actually reminding Sarah that we had planned to go running. What's wrong with me?

"Yeah!" She answered.

At least I can know her better.

She's a girl. She will be slow. We ran the first km in 4'55''.

"Am I slowing you down?"

Dear Sarah. If you knew (she knows now, indeed). I was hoping that you were slower. 4'55'' is slower than usual. It's faster than what I could suffer at that moment.

Suddenly, something strange happened at the end of the second km.

I was talking with her. Pleasantly. And I forgot that I had ate a heavy club sandwich with fried potatoes.

I hadn't really forgot it. It was there, with all its heaviness. I was just running as if it wasn't there.

4th km. Sarah needs to go back home. 11 km are missing. 11 km, like the ones I had in the morning.

It was different this time. I felt pain less than 11 hours before. Sweating like a suine with flu in a sauna. 11 hours later, I could even quicken my pace, have a progression run.

The last 11 km were run at an average of 4'07'' per km. Even too fast.

I made a promise to myself when I arrived home: no more junk food. No more beer. Four weeks are missing, there won't be Sarah next 17 April at the start of the London Marathon.

In order to celebrate such oath, I decided to eat salad. Just salad.

One apple, two carrots, a head of lettuce, two small avocados, 300g of beetroot, olive oil.

(in the picture: more salad in an evening than in the last 10 years)

O mythos deloi oti (i.e. the moral of the story is that) will is stronger that strength. Your mind can achieve results that your body cannot even pursue.

But at least don't be pretentious with your body. You can win the battle during the day. But your body gets its revenge during the night. Especially after that sort of salad. What an idiot.
